Silverado HD is stronger with more towing capability, more payload capability, segment-leading horsepower and segment-leading torque, thanks to a new generation of the Duramax Diesel engine and Allison transmission – a proven, legendary combination. It’s sturdier with a completely new chassis, segment-leading capabilities, and improved steering and ride comfort. And control-related features like a smart Exhaust Brake System, Trailer Sway Control, Hill Start Assist, StabiliTrak® and larger brakes (14-inch rotors with shorter pedal travel) make it more secure than ever.

All Silverado models bring greater capability, improved ride and handling, and a greater feeling of driver control. Depending on the model:
- Segment-best horsepower and torque with Duramax diesel engine (397 hp and 765 lb.-ft. of torque.
- Gross Combined Weight Rating increases to 29,200 lbs.
- Five 3500HD models offer a payload capability greater than 6,000 pounds vs. Ford Super Duty’s single model greater than 6,000 pounds.
- Thirteen 2500HD models offer a payload capability greater than 3,100 pounds vs. Ford Super Duty’s single model greater than 3,100 pounds.
- Segment-leading fifth-wheel towing capacity of 21,700 lbs.
- Segment-leading conventional towing capacity of 17,000 lbs.
- Segment-leading payload capability of 6,635 lbs. on a complete vehicle.
- Gross Vehicle Weight Rating increases up to 17 percent to 13,000 lbs. (5,909 kg)
- Front gross axle weight rating increases by up to 25 percent to 6,000 lbs. (2,721 kg)
- Snowplow capability is now enabled for all 4x4 models.
- Silverado HD equipped with the Duramax diesel engine can provide up to a 680 mile driving range.
